Entrepreneurship Class: Professional Mentor Interest Information
Course Description: This course is designed to get students excited about becoming true entrepreneurs. Students will have the opportunity to create and fully develop their own product or service. Real-world entrepreneurs and business experts will serve as coaches and mentors guiding student teams through the process of ideation, market research, and business plan development. Over the course of the year, student teams will learn about marketing, accounting, human resources, as well as the legal aspects of running a business to get them geared up for their Pitch. Pitches put student teams in front of actual investors to pitch their innovative idea and possibly win funding to turn their business plans into reality during the summer and following school year.
Course Logistics: The first day of the class is August 26, 2025 and the last day of class is June 4, 2026. The class meets for 40 minutes per day (8:13am – 8:53am), Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays and identified school breaks.
Mentor Role: Each student team is assigned a business professional who serves as a mentor throughout the year. The mentor helps the team apply what is being taught in the classroom to the students’ business. Each mentor will have a meeting with their student team (approximately) once per month. This may occur via video conference call or in person. Depending on the dynamics and progress of the team, additional email communication may be required on a weekly basis.
