[CARLISLE, JULY 8, 2025] – The Carlisle Family YMCA Board of Directors and Leadership Team is thrilled to announce it has signed a purchase agreement for the former Keystone Aquatic Center, marking a transformative expansion and the Y’s continued commitment to the Carlisle Community.

Key Highlights:

  • Location & Facility: The former Keystone Aquatic Center, located at 103 Midway Drive, Carlisle, features an eight-lane, 50-meter indoor pool (22 x 25-yard lanes); SwimEx Flume pool; spectator seating and locker rooms—all ideally suited to expand Y programming.
  • Transition Timeline: The purchase agreement is effective July 1, 2025. The 90-day due diligence period has started as well as the process for the subdivision of the pool from the neighboring field house. Renovations and operational upgrades will not start until the sale is finalized.

Programming Enhancements:

Integrating this facility empowers the Carlisle Family YMCA to:
  • Address the limitations of our current 8-lane pool to accommodate the growing needs of our membership and community.
  • Expand the Master’s Swim Program and offer more lap swim opportunities.
  • Broaden the CARY Sharks Swim Team by combining current Y swimmers with swimmers from other local clubs looking for a year-round commitment to competitive swimming & training.
  • Host competitive swim meets, school team practices, vigorous water exercise classes, summer camps, community outreach events and more.

Community Impact:

  • Growth & Flexibility: Attendance in Y aquatics programs has grown tremendously since the completion of the $10 million renovation project in 2022. Adding this new facility will
significantly ease scheduling pressures at the Carlisle Family YMCA’s current pool, reducing
waitlists and offering more flexible hours for members and participants.
  • Investment & Support: The purchase price is $1.7 million, which will be funded through a combination of Y capital reserves, community donations and a low-interest loan. The organization is inviting community partners, donors and sponsors to support naming opportunities and give other financial support toward the purchase and renovations.

Leadership & Vision:

“This exciting opportunity will have a long-term positive impact on our community and our mission,” said Michele Holloway, CEO of Carlisle Family YMCA. “We are investing in the future of our community and the legacy of the Carlisle Family YMCA.”

“The acquisition of this new facility is a game-changer for our competitive swim programs,” said Tara Young, Aquatics Director at the Carlisle Family YMCA. “With expanded lane space, deeper water and spectator seating, we can now host larger meets, provide more advanced training opportunities and support our athletes as they reach new levels of performance. Just as important, this facility allows us to significantly expand our swim lesson offerings—helping more children and adults in our community gain essential water safety skills and a lifelong love of swimming. This investment strengthens our mission and deepens our impact across all levels of aquatics.”

Adam Smith, President of the Carlisle Family YMCA Board of Directors, added: “Securing this new facility is more than just expansion—it’s about investing in our community’s future. We are grateful to all stakeholders who made this possible.”
