Position Information:
· PART TIME – 20-30 hours/week to start; No Health Benefits. $20.00/hour. We are a nonprofit organization. This job would be perfect for someone with an outgoing personality who is dedicated to helping at-risk folks within the community.
· Who is Maranatha-Carlisle? We are a 501.c.3 organization, serving as a financial ministry in the Cumberland and Perry County area. We assist those who are most vulnerable in our community by providing them with sound financial management services. These services enable our clients to maintain financial stability while living independently. Many of our clients have mental health illness, intellectual disabilities, or are elderly. Most of our clients have a very limited income, and with the Maranatha team managing their money wisely, they can focus on treatment and other important things that enhance their quality of life.
· Position Title: Communications and Development Manager
· Hours: Flexible schedule with potential to eventually work from home. Includes paid holidays (Christmas, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Juneteenth) and 2 weeks paid vacation to start. Sick time is accumulated.

The Communications and Development Manager is responsible for developing and implementing Maranatha-Carlisle’s initiatives and efforts to procure community donations and grant funding to support organizational operations and to promote the organization’s mission of providing financial management services to those most vulnerable in our community, so they may live independently and avoid evictions, power shutoffs, legal issues, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Development and Communications Manager is responsible for:
Fundraising
· Provide management and direction for fundraising strategies including the annual Christmas Letter, corporate and foundation fundraising, special events fundraising, grant writing and administration, and in-kind donation drives. Working in partnership with the President/CEO, provide leadership for the creation and enhancement of fundraising initiatives;
· Develop and implement effective individual solicitation, direct mail, email, and crowdsource fundraising strategies;
· Establish annual development giving goals and initiate Annual Christmas giving, including monitoring progress of development campaigns;
· Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters, emails and related correspondence.
Events
· Develop, organize, coordinate, publicize and execute all fundraising special events, including securing venues, determining sponsors or donors, developing target participation, enlisting volunteers, establishing advertising, and identifying and obtaining guest speakers;
· Attend public appearances and speaking engagements; when requested by the President/CEO; to provide information about Maranatha-Carlisle, its mission, and its needs to interested organizations, groups and the general public;
· Attend community events, meetings and other opportunities as assigned by the President/CEO as a representative of Maranatha-Carlisle to ensure continuous visibility of the organization and its mission, goals, and needs.
· Enter and process donations and corresponding acknowledgments.
Communications and Outreach
· Maintains social media presence and organizational website.
· Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan to increase awareness about Maranatha-Carlisle’s mission and its needs, utilizing various external resources, including, but not limited to website, social media, video, email, newsletter, news releases, brochures, and print and broadcast news media;
· Oversee, develop, write and submit grant proposals for corporate, foundation, governmental and private grant opportunities. Track and report on secured grants. Research and initiate grant funding opportunities;
· Develop and maintain donor and communication mailing distribution lists;
· Draft press releases as necessary;
· Collaborate with designated staff and outside vendors to organize and execute all mailings and communications successfully and in a timely manner;
· Maintain positive relationships with current and potential individual donors, corporations and foundations; and
Perform special projects as assigned by the President/CEO
Requirements:
Must be able to work well with many different types of people (colleagues, vendors, clients and case managers) possessing strong relationship management skills.
A positive attitude is a must; along with a value-driven work ethic.
Must be efficient with details and numbers in a fast-paced environment.
Must have solid written and verbal communication skills.
Must have good computer skills.
Experience with managing finances is desired, but not completely necessary. We hire for attitude and train for skill.
Non-profit experience preferred but not essential.
