Job Description

Position: Events & Rentals Manager 

Classification:  Part-time/non-exempt (25 hrs./wk.)

Pay: $15/hour

Job Summary: 

The Events & Rentals Manager is responsible for all aspects of Cumberland County Historical Society’s (CCHS) rental spaces, including Two Mile House and programming space at the institution’s building in Carlisle, PA. They are the main point of contact for all renters and manage rental contracts. The position works with CCHS staff to organize major events at CCHS including the annual McLain fundraiser and Golf Tournament. Hours for this position can vary, and evening and weekend hours will be expected. 

The Events & Rentals Manager is directly responsible to the Development & Communications Director with all the rights, responsibilities and benefits as described in the Personnel Handbook.

Job Duties:

  • Be the main point of contact for rental inquiries and respond within 48 hours of receiving an inquiry.
  • Provide tours of the rental spaces when required. 
  • Manage rental contracts and ensure payments are received on time. 
  • Coordinate coverage for rentals and events, when needed, and be on call the day of events for potential issues. 
  • Set up spaces for room rentals. 
  • Coordinate CCHS’ major events with the Development & Communications Director, including McLain, the Golf Tournament, the Annual Meeting. 
  • Coordinate the room calendar and ensure rentals and CCHS events do not overlap.
  • Work with CCHS departments to develop the seasonal program calendar. 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors or Associate degree preferred. 
  • Experience in hospitality, hotel, or event management. 
  • Non-profit experience preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Previous sales, service experience, or customer management skills are required. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects 
  • Computer knowledge
  • Self-directed and highly motivated

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to transport event materials (weighing up to 30 pounds) that may require lifting and carrying. 
  • Must be able to work varied schedules, including holidays, weekends, and evenings.
  • Ability to work in various locations and conditions.
